Kennesaw State University. Staff Senate | Kennesaw State University Archives

Name: Kennesaw State University. Staff Senate

Historical Note: The Staff Council was created in 1991 following a summer staff retreat on June 20, 1991, at Wildwood Baptist Church in Kennesaw, Georgia. The retreat was held at the request of President Betty L. Siegel to provide staff perspective on a number of campus-wide concerns. Responding to interest generated during the retreat, the Staff Council was established as one of four standing committees in the University Council. The other members include the Faculty Senate, the University Administrators Senate, and the Student Government Association. The name of the organization alternated informally between Staff Council and Staff Senate until the constitution was changed to reflect the latter in 2006.
