Name: Mitchell, Wade


Historical Note: Wade Mitchell was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from North Fulton High School in 1953 and from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1956. While at Georgia Tech, Mitchell was a quarterback for the football team and was an Academic All-America in 1955. After receiving his bachelor's degree in textile engineering from Georgia Tech, Mitchell enlisted in the U.S. Navy for two years. On being discharged, he attended the Harvard Business School. On receiving his degree, Mitchell worked for one year at the West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company as a management trainee. In 1962, he accepted a trainee position in the credit department of The Trust Company of Georgia. Mitchell held a number of titles within Trust Company, including branch manager, head of personnel and operations support, and vice president of administrative services.
