Historical Note:

From 1966 to 1968, History courses at Kennesaw Junior College were offered through the Liberal Arts program. In 1968 the Division of Social Science was created, under which the History faculty was organized. The Division began to offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1978, as the college was granted 4-year status.

From 1966 to 1977, Philosophy courses at Kennesaw Junior College were offered through the Liberal Arts program.  In 1978 responsibility for Philosophy courses was moved to the Division of Humanities.

In 1984 the School of Arts & Behavioral Sciences was formed. Within the school, History and Philosophy classes were offered through the Department of History and Department of Liberal Studies, respectively. The Department of History and Philosophy was created in 1992.  In 1994 the school was reorganized as the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In 1996 it became the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In 2000 the college was reorganized as the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
