Name: Kennesaw State University. College of Continuing and Professional Education

Historical Note:

From its opening in 1966, part of the mission of Kennesaw Junior College was to provide "programs of adult education and community services" that serve the needs and interests of community members. Continuing education courses were originally managed through the Committee on Continuing Education, which met from July 10, 1967, to October 23, 1968. Responsibility for continuing education was then transferred to Cullene Morgan, later Cullene Morgan Harper, the Coordinator of Continuing Education and Information Services. From 1969 to 1977, continuing education courses were offered through the Office of Community Services.

The Continuing Education Center was created in 1984. It handled continuing education efforts until 1987 when the Office of Continuing Education was established. In 1988 the Division of Continuing Education was created. From 1989 to 1990 it was the Division of Continuing Education, Professional Development and Extension. In 1991 it was renamed the Division of Continuing Education and became the College of Continuing and Professional Education in 2010.
