The Office of Community Services was established in 1969 to liaise between the college and the surrounding community. From 1977 to 1978, the Office of Development and Public Services handled communication services for the college. In 1979 the Office of Public Information was established to disseminate information about the college to media outlets, design and edit college publications, maintain clippings files about the college, and plan and document campus events. It performed these functions until 1983, when the Office of College Relations was created. The office included four areas of responsibility: Public Information, Publications, Special Events, and Alumni Relations. When the school obtained university status in 1996, the name was changed to the Office of University Relations.
